OSEE Announces Reference Monitor Line with Bundled Calibration Capability
(Amsterdam) – September 12, 2014 – Monitor manufacturer Beijing OSEE Technology, Ltd and their subsidiary OSEE Americas, Ltd along with software developer SpectraCal, Inc. jointly announced the release of fully integrated 3D LUT calibration software for the OSEE line of Broadcast and Evaluation monitors. The integrated calibration solution is on exhibit in the OSEE stand at IBC 2014, Stand 10.D59 in Hall 10 of Amsterdam RAI, September 12 – 16.
OSEE will be introducing their new XCM series monitor line designed for critical image evaluation.
“We understand that for professionals who create and edit content, the image has to be not just more or less right, but absolutely accurate,” said OSEE America’s Managing Director Thom Belford.
The state of the art in image accuracy requires end to end profiling with a three-dimensional look-up table (3D LUT) for video and film production to ensure standardized results in all stages of production. The state of the art in 3D LUT profiling is SpectraCal’s CalMAN Studio. To ensure the best possible accuracy of their monitors, OSEE Americas are offering CalMAN bundled with each unit.
The integration announced today allows users to create 3D LUT profiles for OSEE monitors using SpectraCal’s software in a completely automated process. CalMAN Studio’s unique closed-loop 3D LUT generation architecture allows unprecedented precision.
The Gamut Retargeting feature in CalMAN, revealed for the first time at IBC, allows a single profiling operation to create 3D LUTs matching multiple standards, such as ITU-R BT-709, DCI-P3, and more.
“Professionals need to know that their images will appear exactly as the standard mandates on their reference monitor,” said Joel Barsotti, Head of Advanced Color Research at SpectraCal. “OSEE’s incorporation of integrated CalMAN 3D LUT profiling software demonstrates their high level of commitment to accuracy,”
SpectraCal and OSEE invited users to come evaluate the results for themselves. Barsotti, attending IBC in Amsterdam to deliver a paper on SpectraCal’s advanced interpolation algorithms, will be demonstrating the software in the OSEE stand.
The XCM series is designed to meet color crucial evaluation standards in film, broadcast, post-production and graphics arts. The XCM-240 uses high-quality RGB LED backlight IPS technology with 10-bit pixels, a 12-bit imaging processing engine, and a 14-bit 3D LUT. The new XCM-250-OLED, also announced this week at IBC, is true 10-bit OLED technology, also enhanced by a 14-bit 3D LUT.
More information on OSEE monitors is available on the OSEE Americas web site: www.oseeamericas.com.
The CalMAN software developed for OSEE is available standalone as well as bundled with the XCM monitors. For additional information, see www.oseeamericas.com/calman.
